At NorthEdge, we take our responsibility as investors and employers seriously. That’s why we have an ongoing commitment to supporting mental health and wellbeing in our business and across the entire portfolio.
When it comes to supporting our colleagues, we have continued to place the utmost importance on mental wellbeing in the workplace. We have formalised our partnership with Sanctus, an organisation that helps businesses pro-actively support their people to achieve better mental health.
Every NorthEdge colleague now has access to confidential one-to-one coaching sessions, to ensure our team have the right levels of support as they grow their careers and lives as part of Team NorthEdge. We have also invested in further training to keep building an inclusive culture and promote allyship with one another – focussing on building an environment where everyone can be their best self at work and gain an understanding of different perspectives.
Our Partner, Phil Frame, recently discussed the topic with Real Deals, highlighting how wellbeing has always been an investment theme for private equity, but a plethora of new business types are now available for the right investors.
Phil said: “Investments in wellness will also play a role in improving and developing the ESG credentials of a GP’s portfolio. The obvious fit is the social impact of wellness. There are parts of the wellness sector, especially on the plant-based and nutritional side of things, that are having a significant environmental impact also.”
He added: “Fitness and mental health was probably all that wellbeing meant to us five years ago, whereas if you look at it today, there’s much more to think about. I’m sure that if we roll the clock forward ten years into the future, it’ll look very different again.”
