Diversity Discussions: Talking Race and Building Equity

Diversity Discussions: Talking Race and Building Equity

At NorthEdge we are committed to increasing diversity across all underrepresented groups in our business and in our portfolio. We recognise that having a diverse, inclusive and equitable culture can lead to faster growth, productivity and innovation – ultimately creating more value for all stakeholders.

This has led us to take the necessary steps to ensure we create a truly inclusive culture for all colleagues at NorthEdge and across our portfolio – making a commitment to further educate ourselves and understand different perspectives. As part of this commitment, we were delighted to welcome Lanre Sulola from Inner Ambitions to our offices last week to run our latest Diversity Discussions session –Talking Race and Building Equity.

As part of the session NorthEdge colleagues discussed how to be an ally, the importance of being anti-racist, how the building blocks of systemic racism can impact the working environment, how people can use privilege to drive positive change, and why we all need to keep talking about race.

The training with Lanre was a fitting way to close Black History Month having shown our support for this important movement throughout October. During the month, we also shared a set of educational resources and Juliana’s reflections on her internship with NorthEdge as part of the 10,000 Black Interns programme.

The ‘Talking Race and Building Equity’ Diversity Discussion follows previous sessions focussed on a wide range of DE&I topics including Speaking Up, Unconscious Bias and Mental Health.
