Lucie Mills, Partner and Head of Value Creation & ESG here at NorthEdge, was asked to contribute to The Drawdown’s feature on how PE firms can decarbonise their operations.
The piece discussed how private equity firms looking to decarbonise their operations from greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) should embed relevant processes into the firm’s DNA.
PE firms are likely to be familiar with ESG plans and aims with portfolio companies, but it remains imperative to be looking at their own operations too – including how people are incentivised to drive change in this area.
Discussing ESG practices, mandatory training across the business, and how we at NorthEdge include ESG into annual appraisals, Lucie said: “What we look at is tailored to an individual’s role. It’s not a pass or fail, but it is factored into our assessment of how an individual has contributed to our collective objectives over the course of the year, ensuring they continue to support us to achieve our wider ESG goals – which includes reducing the carbon emissions of our business and our portfolio.”
