Private Equity International: NorthEdge discusses tech enablement in GP operations

We were recently invited to participate in a feature article for Private Equity International, alongside other experts to discuss the increasing importance of tech enablement within GP operations.

It’s no secret that 2022 and early 2023 have been challenging for the industry, with macroeconomic uncertainty and rising interest rates affecting fundraising and dealmaking activity. Understandably, this has intensified scrutiny of GP activities.

As a result, conversations around tech enablement have taken centre stage, with the integration of technology into the investment process becoming a key trend within the industry.

Private Equity International delves deeply into the subject, discussing how private equity firms have had no choice but to accelerate the adoption of tech in their own businesses and the most successful ways in which this can be achieved.

Discussing the need for a single source of truth, Lucie Mills, Partner at NorthEdge, said: “For most GPs, the first step on the tech-enablement journey has been to warehouse all firm data in a ‘data lake.’

“The infrastructure has proven crucial for streamlining reporting workflows and speeding up response times to LP queries.”

Despite strong pressures and uptake, the consensus remains that artificial intelligence and data analytics are still a long way from disrupting the prominence of human insight and personal interactions in the industry.”
