Recognising Volunteer’s Week 2024

This week marks Volunteer’s Week, an initiative created to inspire people to make a difference with their time and celebrate the impact they make to our communities.

First established in 1984, the week-long event is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year commemorating the contributions made by volunteers across the UK.

At NorthEdge, we take our responsibilities seriously – as investors, employers and as members of the communities we operate in.

We’re proud of the efforts made over the years from our business and across our portfolio, with people going above and beyond in support of our environment, colleagues and communities.

Our overall charitable mission is to support charities in our regions that are aligned to our values, aligned to our DE&I strategy and support people to get into/progress their careers and/or education.

To further our commitment, in recognition of Volunteering Week and to continue our mission to drive positive change across our regions, we would like to share our latest partnership with the impact platform and employee volunteering tool, OnHand.

OnHand empowers employees to learn and take action on the issues that matter, featuring activities focused on areas such as youth mentoring, food poverty, elderly help and fighting climate change. The partnership brings thousands of group and individual missions aligned to various skills and timeframes to suit each person, with goals and rewards to work towards as a team. We’re looking forward to implementing the platform throughout June – watch this space for updates on our missions.

As well as a new partnership with OnHand, we have attended and/or organised three events to support incredible charities including:

Born Survivor

In April, Team NorthEdge completed the Born Survivor Obstacle Course in support of Rare Dementia Support (RDS) and The National Brain Appeal.

We’re proud to share that the team have raised over £5,500 for these incredible charities, which will help support world leading centres for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with neurological and neuromuscular conditions.

Charity Golf Day

On Thursday this week, we are hosting our annual Charity Golf Day at the Wilmslow Golf Club, once again in support of the National Brain Appeal. The day will see us welcome over 20 teams from our network to the course followed by a charity dinner in the evening.

Day in the Dales

Then, on Friday we are hosting our charity walk ‘A Day in the Dales’ which takes place in support of Yorkshire Children’s Charity – a charity that helps children across Yorkshire, where one third of children live in poverty, who are at a disadvantage in life due to disability, ill health, or financial circumstances.

Welcoming walkers from across the investment community, the event feature a ten-mile walk across the beautiful Yorkshire countryside in support of this great charity.
