Getting to know Christopher Grakal

In our latest episode of Beyond the Capital we spoke to Christopher Grakal, CEO of ICP.

Straight out of college Christopher joined the clothing brand Gap, where he developed a passion for building teams and cultures, as he travelled around the country opening new stores and divisions. With a family background based in the entertainment industry, Christopher decided to make the move to Fox Television, where he joined the Director’s Guild of America and started producing TV shows. Despite working on a number of exciting shows, the nature of show cancellations led Christopher to look for a career with some more stability.

Christopher found the perfect hybrid when he joined Warner Brothers, where he was responsible for taking the studios assets and leveraging them to meet different objectives across the business. Seeing the opportunity to digitise this capability, Christopher was central in the development of a digital asset management (DAM) ecosystem, ensuring all Warner Brothers marketing and publicity assets worked on a global scale in multiple different formats. Staying within the Time Warner family, Christopher moved between the different divisions, continuing to build technological solutions that leveraged the company’s marketing assets.

After 17 years with Time Warner, Christopher took the opportunity to go out on his own as an individual DAM consultant. Despite finding success in his new venture, Christopher missed being part of a team and building something with other people. That’s what led Christopher to ICP, where he originally joined in 2016 as the leader of The Americas, before moving into the global CEO role just over two years ago.

In this episode of Beyond the Capital, Christopher shares his passion for building teams and developing people, how ICP supports some of the biggest brands in the world with their content strategies, and why ICP’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging principles are central to how they operate.
