The Drawdown: NorthEdge CFO Charlie Page speaks about his journey in private equity

Charlie Page, our CFO, recently sat down with Sylvia Saccardi at The Drawdown to discuss how he got into the private equity industry and how both he and NorthEdge have developed over the years.

Charlie’s career in Private Equity began in 2009 during his time at Deloitte, where he worked with PE-backed businesses. He later transitioned to financial roles at MoneySuperMarket.com and national law firm BLM, gaining diverse experiences across the sector.

Motivated by a desire for a dynamic CFO role, he joined NorthEdge as a Financial Controller in 2017. Charlie reflected that he values the varied responsibilities he has at NorthEdge, where his evolving role encompasses finance, compliance oversight and strategic involvement with operations. One of his proudest moments at NorthEdge is building a cashflow and budgeting model which filled a necessary gap.

Speaking about how he is developing the finance team to support NorthEdge, Charlie explained, “Stage one was to build up a team and make it more efficient. I think we have done that. The next step for the finance team is to become more of a business partner to the rest of the firm.”

He continued, “Now, we need to work on using these developed skills to help our investment team and our portfolio companies. We are trying to help our portfolio CFOs more, as well as supporting our investor relations team with better data analysis.”

Charlie highlighted how his main focus includes enhancing efficiency through technology, such as portfolio monitoring systems and automating reporting processes.
