NorthEdge supports Distology’s acquisition of Squareball Digital

We are pleased to announce that we have supported Distology to acquire Squareball Digital (Squareball). Based in Germany, the company supports organisations to define and implement Identity Access Management strategies. Squareball already work alongside some of Distology’s vendor partners, such as Okta and Auth0, and will provide a highly complementary service to the existing Distology proposition.

The acquisition represents another significant milestone for Distology following our investment in March 2021.

Since our investment we have focussed on supporting Distology to invest for growth, which has seen the business expand its team, move offices, launch the Distology proposition in Europe, increase strategic vendor partnerships and gain recognition for the work they do to drive diversity in the technology sector.

During the partnership, the business has invested heavily in its people, hiring Chief Product Officer, Lance Williams; Sales Director, Rob Darby; Benelux Regional Director Thomas Kramps; Head of People Success, Chloe Thirlwall, promoting Claire Stott to Marketing Director, and increasing overall headcount by more than 40%.

As well as moving to a new office in Stockport to provide a great environment for its people and ensure there is room for continued growth, the business also opened a new office in the Netherlands in November 2021 to accelerate the growth of the Benelux division.

In addition, Distology has announced several new vendor partnerships, including Menlo Security, Ironscales, Auth0 and LogRhythm, which is testament to their excellent reputation for quality service and technical expertise.

In March 2022, Distology was recognised as LogRhythm’s European Distributor of the Year at its 2021 awards, and in October 2021 CEO Hayley Roberts also won big at the CRN Women in Channel Awards. Hayley was awarded Role Model of the Year as well as walking away with the biggest accolade of the night, Woman of the Year – both as a result of her long-term focus on encouraging more diversity of talent into the tech industry.

Hayley Roberts, CEO of Distology said: “We’ve always set out to be Europe’s leading value-added-distributor of cloud-based security software, and over the last 18 months we’ve cemented our position as a true value partner to both new and established cutting-edge technology vendors. NorthEdge has been a fantastic partner helping to spearhead many of our recent successes – including the acquisition of Squareball.

“We are delighted to bring Martyn and the Squareball team into the Distology family, enabling us to provide additional high-quality services for our customers across Europe and help even more companies protect their digital estates from the growing threat of cyber-attacks.”

Liam May, Director at NorthEdge added: “Cybersecurity continues to be one of the fastest growth markets in the world, particularly with the rise of remote and flexible working. Distology already had an outstanding reputation in the market when NorthEdge invested, and it’s been fantastic to support the team to build on this further.

“Hayley and her team have demonstrated a real ambition and commitment to driving growth, whilst continuing to stay true to their approach to people and culture – which has been key in delivering their success. We look forward to continuing to support the Distology team achieve even more success and growth in the coming years.”

The bolt-on acquisition of Squareball by Distology follows a further four bolt-on acquisitions in the NorthEdge technology portfolio in the last twelve months, with Catalis acquiring Check Disc Labs and Giant Interactive in Summer 2022, Correla acquiring CloudKB in March 2022, Altia acquiring VeriSaaS in late 2021.
