Direct Healthcare Group (DHG), the manufacturer of pressure care solutions, has completed its acquisition of Poshchair Medical, marking the firm’s fifth bolt-on since NorthEdge Capital supported the MBO of DHG in April 2016.
Based in Southampton, Poshchair Medical is a hospital equipment rental specialist, offering a range of high-quality bariatric products, including hoists, beds, seating, and hovertech systems. The company has developed a significant reputation for customer service and quality since its formation in 2005, particularly in the South of England.
Based in Caerphilly, DHG specialises in the development of clinically effective solutions for the delivery of patient care. The Group posted turnover to £25m in the current year and has increased headcount from 62 to 170 in the period since NorthEdge supported the existing management team to pursue a buy-and-build strategy.
In addition to Poshchair Medical, DHG now consists of pressure care management businesses Direct Healthcare Services and Qbitus Products, bariatric rental specialist Nightingale Care Beds, specialist seating product manufacturer Kirton Healthcare and pressure care brand Transflo Cushion.
Commenting on the acquisition of Poshchair Medical, Mark and Sally Grinyer said: “We’re really excited for Poshchair Medical’s future following the acquisition by Direct Healthcare Group. It will be business as usual for Poshchair, however we will now be backed with greater resources, have more product offerings and faster response times.”
Graham Ewart, CEO of Direct Healthcare Group, said: “The synergies that currently sit between Direct Healthcare Group’s Nightingale Care bariatric rental division and Poshchair Medical’s portfolio offering are evident. Further, the acquisition also provides us with the ideal opportunity to expand our geographical scope, allowing us to truly cover the entire UK and significantly reduce rental lead times in the South. With both Poshchair Medical and Nightingale, we are the UK’s market leader in bariatric rentals.”
Andy Skinner, Investment Director at NorthEdge Capital, said: “The team at DHG has continued to broaden and strengthen its offer since NorthEdge’s investment in 2016, and we have seen the company grow significantly as a result. The acquisition of Poshchair Medical adds to DHG’s existing offer in the bariatric rental care market and we are pleased to support the company with this transaction that builds further on the Group’s ability to deliver innovative healthcare solutions.”
